  1. Pretty even, but I give Dez the advantage for a few reasoning: 1. Less competition for TDs - When Romo and Dez are healthy, Romo will give him a shot almost every time in the Red Zone. Obviously, the risk is with the health of both Romo and Dez. 2. With the Cowboys O-Line play and Elliott running behind them, the Cowboys should have a better running game than the Bengals, and when Defenses are forced to protect against that, it will mean one-on-ones for Dez. 3. Weaker Division - especially defensively - The AFC North and the NFC East are really night and day with quality of defenses. Granted, Steelers and Ravens defenses were down in '15, but over 3-4 year span, the AFC North teams will put together much better defenses than NFC East. The issue with keeping Dez will be how long Romo plays and who follows him. I'd keep Dez and if he has a good season this year, which he should barring health - I'd trade him for a few draft picks or a younger RB/WR before his value declines as Romo bears retirement.
  2. ... There's a reason Tom Brady is considered the greatest draft pick of all time. He also had as many starts his rookie season as I did.
  3. When given the choice of trading a 2nd and 3rd for Lynch or getting Prescott in the 4th, I'd take Prescott in the 4th every day
  4. If he is great at all these things, what is the reasoning he fell to the 4th round? Because of his DUI? That's not enough to drop him 3 rounds. His highlights an analyses of all these points are out there and have been pointed out by many scouts. He is better than Tebow, but I'd argue he's closer to David Garrard than he is to Newton or Wilson. I'm rooting for him and I hope he's as great as you say he is and his college success translates directly into NFL success, but there's a lot of things he will need to overcome and improve before he will have NFL success. I'm not arguing with you that he cannot be a very good QB in the league, but he's not ready to be that from day 1, such as Newton. He fell into one of the best spots he could be in going to Dallas and having a few years with a very good QB coach to develop.
  5. If Prescott was a clone of Wilson and Newton, he would've been taken #1 without any hesitation. Wilson fell because of his size - Prescott falls because his footwork and vision are terrible, and he has a slow throwing motion - which is why he draws comparisons to Tebow. All his weaknesses can be hidden in the college game, similar to Tebow, but once you get into the speed of the NFL, you won't survive without a quick throwing motion. Altering throwing motion, footwork, and vision are going to take time and are highly difficult to overcome - this is Why Prescott fell to the 4th. Don't get me wrong, I hope he pans out, but he won't be overtaking Romo this season, and he'll be at least a 3 year project. Again, as darin3 said, the college game doesn't always translate to the NFL - and this is one of those cases. Prescott needs a lot of work to transform himself into the NFL game.
  6. I'd give the Cowboys a B-. BTW, Stephen Jones and Garret are essentially running the show now. Jerry has conceded to them multiple times over the past 3 years. Jerry wanted to swap their 2nd and 3rd for Lynch, and he conceded to Stephen Jones who said No as the values did not match up. Same thing happened last year when Jerry want Manzeil and Jones/Garrett chose Martin. Pick 1: Cowboys had option of Zeke or Ramsey. I love Ramsey, but he only helps you on 1 side of the ball. Zeke helps both the Offense and Defense as he has the ability to convert 3rd downs consistently and keep the D off the field, similar to what Murray did 2 years ago when the Cowboys lead the league in Time of Possession and 3rd down conversions. Romo is excellent when he has a capable RB - without one, he is just average. Zeke will open up Dez and give Romo time keep him upright by keeping defenses honest and because he is a great blocker. Pick 2: Cowboys have made of habit of taking risks in the 2nd-3rd rounds over the past few years. They typically work a trade to get multiple picks in the 2nd round so they can get a solid guy and take a calculated risk on a guh who falls. They wanted Dodd or Ogbah and took a chance that they could get them with the 3rd pick in Round 2. They got stuck here when they watched both guys go right in front of them. Smith could pan out and be a great pick, and the Cowboys doctor performed the surgery, so this is a pick that is highly difficult to grade out until we see what happens. Prescott: The kid is not overtaking Romo anytime soon. Love him or hate him, Romo is a very good QB in the NFL. It's his team for the next 2-3 years. Prescott is a descent option as a developmental guy to take here, but the Cowboys may find themselves looking for a better prospect in the next 2 years of drafts.
  7. He will not be good in SF. Honestly, I have no idea what the front office of SF is thinking with the hire. They just fired a guy who took them to the Super Bowl and NFL Championship in part because of his hard-nosed practice regimen and old-school coaching style, and because he wanted to much control over personnel decisions and butted heads with the front office. Basically, Jim Harbaugh was successful Chip Kelly, and they let him go.
  8. Does anyone recall the last QB that Gruden didn't like?
  9. To the defense of Fitzpatrick, his willingness to retire actually shows his intelligence. It shows that he has been smart enough throughout his career to properly save and invest the millions he has earned, so that he would be set to retire and live comfortably - something that should seemingly be easy to do based on salaries, yet probably less that 5% of the players in the league could actually do this. So Fitzpatrick must now decide, what is the price of shortening his life expectancy by continuing to play. I think his willingness to retire actually shows his intelligence. Hell, if I got drafted, I'd plan to play for 7-10 years max. Once you have that much $, there's plenty of other ways to continue making and growing $, without needing to continue risking your body. Fitzpatrick could easily find a 2nd career doing basically whatever he wants.
  10. Doctson has the best rookie year of any WR in the Draft. Chiefs trade pick to SF for Kaepernick, rekindling the Kaepernick vs Smtih QB competition... Just kidding, they stay put and take Lynch.
  11. If he's as good as he's being paid to be, Philly's move has no impact on him - in fact, it should really help him because it would increase his teams odds to win games if he does down, and as long as he can prove he's a very good QB in the league prior to that happening, he would resume his position as QB1 when he returned from injury. The problem is he doesn't believe in himself to win the QB1 job over a rookie. If you cannot clearly separate yourself from Chase Daniels as a clear #1, then the issue is you. He had the opportunity to make this move by Philly never happen if he could have put together a better season last year - or really any year prior to that.
  12. Agree - Blue is your only guy here with no true future upside. If you were looking to gain more salary cap space, my second choice for a drop would be Duke, but he's a far 2nd.
  13. Cowboys drafts over the past few years have been very interesting. A combination of intelligent minds mixing with overly ambitious Jerry - they've taken some solid 1st rounders by putting the reigns on Jerry and taking BPA (i.e. passing on Johnny for Martin), but they've made a habit of trading up for Jerry-Type guys as well - Bryant and Claiborne. I don't see them trading up at all for Romo's backup - Garrett's all in this year with his job on the line, and Jerry's all in every year, as his # of years on the life expectancy chart continues to decline. If they trade into late 1st, they'd have to be looking at 1st round combo picks of DE/Corner + RB, right?
  14. Team: Okay, well Cleveland has shown some interest... Bradford: Did I say Trade me? I meant "Trade me to the Broncos"
  15. Right... but by moving up, the Patriots would lose additional picks, so in effect, as long as whoever the traded with put together an intelligent trade package, the Pats would end up losing even more by moving up.
