Unquestionably the National League favorite to win the pennant. Then came a series vs the NY Mets at Shea Stadium. A black cat made its way onto the field right in front of Leo Daroucher and the Cubs dugout. The cat danced around in front of all the Cubs and the rest is history. The poor Cubbies crash and burn throughout August and September and the NY Mets go on to win the World Series. Never underestimate the power of the black cat.
