  1. Sat him and started D. Branch. Classic over-analysis.
  2. Freakin' embarrassing as a STL homer, even though I predicted this in an earlier thread yesterday, not that it takes some great knowledge to predict this. As far as Martz being fired, he is VERY tight with John Shaw the team president and he received the infamous "vote of confidence" from him last week. Is he on the hotseat? Not according to Shaw. But if you ask ANYONE else in STL and he's as good as gone. This team has quit. And as a season ticket holder, I have to go watch them play the Eagles and Jets in the next two weeks. Anyone want a couple good seats at the Ed?
  3. Emmitt could be a great start against that Rams D. Good Luck.
  4. STL homer here, and it looks as though it is a FF'ers nightmare. Both will play, neither is 100% and no one knows if Martz will run the ball more than 15 times. He has the ridiculous ego to go in to AZ and try to prove that Chandler was not the problem and try to throw the pill all day. When the public and media outcry is for him to run the ball more, he tends to do just the opposite, as if he is trying to prove who's boss. Nothing would surprise me tomorrow. That offense is definitely in disarray, that line couldn't block me, and don't believe the BS that the defense is fixed. Don't get me started on special teams, just watch that Scoby cat return a couple to the house tomorrow. Other than that, we're playing great. If you have any other options, I'd sure think about using them.
  5. I'll keep an eye on the STL media for news about Faulk and Jackson. There has been nothing yet, and this note of caution - Martz is a notorious liar when it comes to this sort of thing, so take everything with HUGE grain of salt. But even 50% of Marshall or Jackson vs the Deadbirds might help someone out in the playoffs, so I'll try to keep you posted.
  6. I like the debate too, obviously, since it drew me from lurker to poster. Let's see, how do we feel about Martz? First understand, that St. Louis is a media-friendly kinda town where we latch on to players and coaches we like and they seemingly can do no wrong. Whitey Herzog is still a freakin' GOD here. So you would think that since he won us a Super Bowl as a coordinator and took us there again as a head coach that STL would be Martzville. And you'd be wrong. The public opinion has overwhelmingly turned against the smug, arrogant Martz and some people are secretly hoping the Rams melt down completely so we can get rid of him and get a better draft pick for someone who knows what the hell to do with it. As for the organization, it's really John Shaw who pushes the buttons. The problem is that we have a good football man as GM (Charlie Army) but Martz has final say on personnel matters rendering Army virtually powerless. Martz's drafts have been terrible - read this in today's STL Post-Dispatch: Bernie Miklaz It's the same thing that's happening in Seattle and other places. How many coaches can really be an effective GM? The national media isn't listing Martz as being on the proverbial "hotseat", but here it sure appears that is the case. Anyone in the market for a nice, big house in the St. Louis suburbs?
  7. By the way Chief, I think you're being too modest. I'd put the Chiefs and that organization and those fans in that stadium in the top 5 easy. NO ONE wants to have to go there to win an important game.
  8. I hate the fact that we got a team from someplace else, so I understand the criticism of the Rams, Chief. Blatant homerism here, but we thought we should have gotten the expansion team that went to Jacksonville, nothing against the fine folks in North Florida. My point was that the criticism of St. Louis as a football town was misinformed. The attendance figures you posted prove that. If you're going to slam the St. Louis fans just because the Grid Birds left, you need to hand some of that to Chicago, too, since the Cardinals also left there. It's just kinda silly. We will, as I said, continue to support the Rams even with what I agree could be some dark times looming on the horizon. Thanks to those who supported my post, and from a STL homer point of view I'll do what I can. Here's a nugget for you- I'm a Season Ticket Holder and was at the game last week and have followed the story here closely. Bulger looks to be a lot more hurt than Martz is letting on. Martz is among the NFL coaches (Shanahan, Belichick) that you absolutely cannot believe when they talk about injuries. No links or official sources, just my opinion, but if your league has a transaction deadline, I'd sure back up Bulger for the playoffs with someone other than Crystal Chandelier. Take the Panthers and give the points.
  9. Chief, I'm usually just a reader of the boards, but for the sake of historical accuracy I need to speak up. The Cardinals were in the top third of the NFL in attendance when they left St. Louis, despite the fact that we are just below the middle of the leage in market size. The team was here for 30 years, never won a playoff game, never even hosted a playoff game, but the fans SUPPORTED that team and attended games. The team was moved by Bidwill (the great Satan) because he was trying to rape the city on a new stadium deal and the politicians couldn't get a deal done, so he did it to the people in Phoenix instead. (They have my sympathy) The Cardinals did NOT move for lack of support. And your comment on us not having experienced a bad team is just laughable. For 30 years we supported the Dead Birds and for the first seven years they were here, we also supported the "Same Old Rams." They were fighting with the Bengals for several years there for the "Worst Record in the 90's."The Rams have sold out every game since moving here, even during the Tony Banks era, and they will continue to sell out every game even if Mad Mike is allowed to run this franchise into the ground. I agree we probably don't belong in the top five in football franchises (yet), but get your facts straight before you lump us in with Bidwill's Cardinals. There, I feel better. Slam away fellas, I've been on this site for years and have seen how you disregard the opinions of "newbies." In fact, that's why I've never posted. Just because I'm new to the board, though, doesn't mean I'm wrong.
