CaptainHook
Stokley, one of the Colts’ three record-setting, 1,000-yard, 10-touchdown wide receivers last season, has been cleared to practice this week, Colts Head Coach Tony Dungy said on Monday. Two other players – cornerback Donald Strickland and offensive tackle Ryan Diem – also have been cleared to practice Wednesday, Dungy said. “We feel good about those guys being able to practice Wednesday,” Dungy said as the two-time defending AFC South Champion Colts prepared to play the Baltimore Ravens Sunday at 6:30 p.m. EST in the season opener in a nationally-televised ESPN Sunday night game. Stokley sustained a dislocated shoulder shortly before the Colts’ preseason opener in the American Bowl against the Atlanta Falcons in Tokyo, Japan, August 5. . . Stokley, who caught a career-high 68 passes for 1,077 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, said he planned to play against the Ravens Sunday, but said the final decision will be the coaches. “It’s a step in the right direction,” Stokley said. “We’ll see how it does the rest of the week. It pretty much comes down to what the coaches think is best for the team. “If they think I’m able to play within a week, I’ll play. If not, whatever they think is best.” Stokley said he may wear a brace when he plays. link Edited September 6, 2005 by CaptainHook
