Guest Sores
Anyone else remember the Big Ten in the mid to late 80's. There was a run of very good white, guards- Rick Olsen - Wisconsin Jay Burson - Ohio State Steve Alford - Indiana Then a couple stong black guys came on BJ Armstrong and Roy Marble at Iowa Trent Jackson, Danny Jones and Patrick Tompkins at Wisconsin Nick Anderson - Illinois (along with Kendall Gill and Marcus Liberty) Keith Smart and Jay Edwards at Indiana Michigan had Glen Rice who was beautiful to watch - pretty shot I have ever seen....and Roy Tarpley who was a man amongst boys. OSU had Dennis Hopson...who could score on anyone... Minnesota had Willie Burton Thats all off the top of my head...I am sure some of you will remember more.... edit: How could I forget Steve Scheffler from Purdue. What an animal! Gopher
A couple of others from the Illinois Final Four team: Steve Bardo and Kenny Battle. Michigan '89 champs: Rumeal Robinson, Rice, Terry Mills, Loy Vaught, and token white guy (didn't score but could do all of the "little things") Mike Griffin. Minnesota team that made it to the final 8 and lost to Georgia Tech: Jim Shikenjanski, Richard Coffey, Willie Burton, Kevin Lynch, and Melvin Newburn. Burton was on fire that tournament, but Dennis Scott did him one better in that game and GTech won by like 3. Lynch missed a last minute three from the right corner, falling away, that would have tied it..... Remember it like it was yesterday. Kenny Anderson, Brian Oliver, and Malcolm Mackey were also on that Yellow Jacket team.
