Randall
They could offer him a contract or release him. It looks like they want to see what he is worth, but Draft wants to stay in charlotte. Are they low-balling him? Offer him something.

He's "free' so they can not release him actually, but I commend Hurney for this move, and if they can't get him at their price, then let him go elsewhere, which is fine by me as it makes P Willis even harder to pass up if he is there at 14. At their price? Have they offered him anything? It didn't sound like they had.Youa re right about him being a UFA. He is really just a versatile back up. I would at least offer to extend his contract as a starting point but that's me. The Panthers aren't even my team.

They most likely are interested in a 1 yr deal I'd imagine, and he now views himself a starter-so only time will tell.
rajncajn
Word is here is that he wanted to be gauranteed a starting position & the Saints just wouldn't do it.
PantherDave
Bottom line is the Panthers are not going to pay him starter money, and if some team wants to pay more for his services than the Panthers believe he's worth, then they will let them. HowboutthemCowboys
Bottom line is the Panthers are not going to pay him starter money Draft, who started 16 games last season and led the Panthers in tackles (111) and was second in sacks (5.5), said he asked the team for a contract offer before the start of free agency but never received one. Just curious PD, why does'nt he deserve starter $$$ ? Edited March 8, 2007 by HowboutthemCowboys

Just curious PD, why does'nt he deserve starter $$$ ? Well, bad choice of words on my part-The Panthers will not pay him starter money, also, if the other 31 teams thought he did-why he would have signed a contract or at least been offered one. He's 31, was thrown into the role due to injury etc. etc. . Plus, Carolina signed him to be a back-up and still feel he is just that....big differnce between a "starter" and a plug in "role player"-just my two cents, and like I said-the other 31 teams will not garunte(yukon) him he will start either, so I'll trust their opinion and let it support mine as well. Just curious PD, why does'nt he deserve starter $$$ ? Yeah, I don't know anything about the guy other than that, but looks pretty impressive to me and not making him at least a modest offer is strange IMO. OK so he's older, make him a 1 or 2 year offer. Bottom line it appears he was getting the job done. Hell Colts should make him some kind of offer. He'd be the best MLB we've had in many years (by default if nothing else).
