Computer Issue

OK so I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop that has been nothing short of a workhorse for 2+ years. I had to wipe it and reload Windoze once, which was not a big deal. Well, since the wipe/reload, the sound card has given me some problems.

The sound will shut off (like it's on mute) at random times, but most of the time, it's while I'm playing poker online. However, if I go to certain websites that have sound (like the monkey thing on CareerBuilder), it somehow resets something in my sound card and voila, I have sound again. Also, I found that iTunes fixed this issue a few times, too.

Should I just update my sound card driver? Is there an easier fix for this?

Thanks. :D

Worth updating the driver.

I would definitely update the driver. The drivers that come with Windows can sometimes work fine or sometimes be flakey. It's always a good idea to get the latest driver from the device manufacturer's web site.
