wiegie Posted May 23, 2007 Author Share Posted May 23, 2007 well, political populism is an entirely different reason than behind the scenes lobbying and powerbroking. in a sense, both probably played a role here, as they do with any regulatory legislation...but like i said, it doesn't really appear to be a matter of big-guy-using-influence-to-squash-competition-from-small-guy, it's more an example of lawmakers siding with one big guy against another. I never said it was big guy trying to squash little guy. I just said that it was the banking industry trying to protect itself from competition in any form.
