Joessfl
Guys, Any help is appreciated. I play games, mostly MMORPG like WoW, and others in household playing SIMS and Im looking to upgrade my Dell 8300 from the GeForce 5200 to another...I was eyeing up the GeForce 7600 GS (price and quality seem to be a good balance with still trying to buy groceries for family). Has anyone upgraded their PC lately? Is it an old PC like mine (3-4 years old)? Any help or thoughts appreciated.
H8tank
The 7600 GS is def better than what you have now, but not so high that is will burn up your powersuppy. I assume you have AGP slot? What is your budget? Although much better than the 5200, the 7600 is still a lower end card.
H8tank
If you can afford it, this is the best AGP card you can get: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814122009 $150.
Joessfl
Thanks for all the info. My budget was between 100-$120. Since the PC is old, I am upgrading some thing to get by for the next two years, when I can really drop the $ on a new rig. It was RAM starved at 512M, so I dropped another Gig in it. Maybe I subliminally am thinking of taking it to Vista in the near future...LOL! It is an AGP 8X slot, and already figured out I need a new Power supply to handle any card I put in, since Dell thought 250W was sufficient for its little box way back when. You've given me food for thought. Thanks! Edited July 3, 2007 by Joessfl
MrTed46
3-4 years on a pc is old in todays standards especially for MMPORG gamers. The 7600GT will be a hugh improvement from what you have now but I am not sure on your CPU load. if possible maybe try to save some dough and get another dell. But if you want immediate satisfaction then the 7600 will do.
