rajncajn Posted October 31, 2007 Share Posted October 31, 2007 (edited) Repetitive loss buyout program already exists HANCOCK COUNTY --Elected officials expressed relief Tuesday over a tentative compromise that may halt a major federal buyout of flood-prone lands in the county, but still provide relief for owners of repetitively flooded properties who want to sell. In a meeting Monday with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and state Department of Marine Resources, a proposal was made: Local elected officials will drop opposition if a massive buyout proposed by the corps is abandoned and substituted with a repetitive loss buyout that has already been available for years.
