msaint
Picked 6th. First 5 were Sosa, Bonds, Helton, ARod, Manny. I took Griffey at #6. (Rest of round went LuGonzalez, Thome, Delgado, Giambi, Green, Glaus). No team really stands out but here's mine, followed in parentheses by other guys who were available when I picked that round. We start 10 each week. Admittedly, after my 5th round I took some chances on rookies and slightly injured guys, but I won last year so screw it...it's like I'm a pro golfer slacking after winning a major! 1. Griffey Upside is huge, could hit 55; then again, could play 90 games and hit 20, worth the risk. 2. Sexson Psyched/shocked he lasted until #19. Could hit 50 himself. At least 45. (Piazza, Mo Vaughn, Andruw, Nevin, Dunn) 3. Berkman Should hit 40, 42 maybe. (Boone, Burnitz, Hidalgo, Magglio, JD, Mondesi) 4. Cruz Jr. Bit of a reach at #4 but could hit 35-40. (Sweeney, Nomar, Branyan, IRod, Bernie) 5. Batista Like him at #5, 30-35 a possibility (Sanders, Tino, P.Wilson, G.Vaughn, Tejada, Burks) 6. Dye Injury risk but good value at #6 (McGriff, Canseco, Cameron, Jenkins, Edgar) 7. Torii Hunter Even though he has two i's in his name 25-30 is probable. (Jordan, Trammell, D.Lee, D.Ortiz, Alfonzo, Lowell) 8. Jay Gibbons Should get full year of DH/OF ABs, could hit 30. (Justice, Durazo, Soriano, Lieberthal, Grieve) 9. Ch. Johnson Injured but will hold onto him 'til healthy. Prob. my worst pick. (J.Hernandez, Millar, Kapler, Tatis, C.Pena, Javy) 10. Ensberg Hoping he's another Pujols in former Enron Field. (Fick, D.Young, T.Lee, Blalock, D.Palmer) Bench: Took an easy 18-20 HR veteran and 3 rookies with supposed great power potential, who knows if it's this year. 11. Toby Hall (C, TB) 12. Olerud 13. B.Buchanan (OF, Min) 14. E. Hinske (3B, Tor) [ 03-20-2002: Message edited by: msaint ]
dcgangstas
Looks good, Msaint. Sexson could really carry you, if your scoring system does not take off too many points for strikeouts. When he gets hot, he's awesome. Carried me down the stretch in my league last year.
msaint
Mr. Gangstas, good to see ya in baseball land. It's a HR only league so I don't care if Sexson K's every other at-bat, long as he hits 45-50 dingers. I need Griff to play all year, though.....
