Anyone here carry an umbrella policy to provide $1m plus of liability coverage? Anyone recommend doing so? I've been contemplating getting one for a while just in case.....

We carry a 2 mil umbrella policy. It's cheap insurance and helps prevent you from losing everything in case of a big lawsuit against you.

We've had a $1mil policy since my daughter got her driver's license. It was fairly $$$ back then, but it was peace of mind. Now it costs ~200/year. It allows you to lower your liability on your auto insurance, so that helps pay for it a little.

Yeah, I'd be looking at ~$17 / month or roughly $200 / year for $1m. All it takes is one moment's inattention and - BANG! - you just badly injured someone and your ass gets sued off.

Most companies I work with make you carry 250,000/500,000 limits and 500,000 liability on your homeowners before they even allow you to get an umbrella....but yes it is cheap and well worth the cost if you can get it.
