Randall
From the Ravens July 23, 2008 QUARTERBACK DERBY Neither Kyle Boller nor rookie Joe Flacco stood out yesterday, but that's because Troy Smith stole the spotlight with a rocky start. Three of his five passes were intercepted, and his first snap during red-zone drills resulted in a botched snap between him and rookie guard Adam Kraus. Flacco did thread a post pass away from the diving reach of linebacker Jameel McClain to wide receiver Patrick Carter. PLAY OF THE DAY, PART 1 Rookie safety Haruki Nakamura contributed to Smith's final interception when Nakamura dislodged the ball from wide receiver Ernie Wheelwright in the end zone. Fellow safety Tom Zbikowski collected the ball before it fell to the turf. PLAY OF THE DAY, PART 2 Secondary coach Chuck Pagano didn't look 47 years old when he lined up as a cornerback and intercepted Smith's pass along the left sideline. Pagano began to run before lateraling the ball and avoiding a tackle.
Bronco Billy
PLAY OF THE DAY, PART 2Secondary coach Chuck Pagano didn't look 47 years old when he lined up as a cornerback and intercepted Smith's pass Hard to believe Smith actually has gotten some mention as a sleeper starting QB. Apparently people missed his debacle against Florida. He's got the earmarks of being a Michael Vick-quality passer.
