redwings.cup
with the signing of Richter. I'm sure the Wings cut the NYR off at the ball level with the signing of Cujo. I've never seen the appeal to Richter and his signing means another year of mediocre performance by the blue shirts. i think they'll make the playoffs, but as a 6, 7 or 8 seed. Any contrary minded? policyvote
I dunno. Holik is exactly the player the Rangers haven't had, but have desperately needed; his two-way play is a perfect fit. I've never been a big Kaspar fan, and he didn't exactly set the world on fire during his merc stint this year, but he's definitely an impact blueliner when he's on. Together, they give the Rangers a LOT more grit, and for a team with talent but no backbone, that's everything. Unfortunately, you're spot-on about Richter. Unless they start playing the Olympic hymn before Rangers games, I just don't think he can play as well as they need him to. They really needed a change in goal, long-term. Perhaps they should make a trade for Biron (who, I know, is VERY unhappy with his current contract) or something. Peace policy

Hey, we actually agree on something! Richter is the most overrated player in the NHL. Sure, he has won a Cup, but that was 8 years ago. His lifetime goals against average is just a little under 3.00 and his lifetime save percentage is .904. Hardly the numbers of a great goalie. Even in his Cup-winning season, Richter allowed 2.50 goals a game that season. Overrated? Without a doubt.
Guest Azazello13
richter's won more than cujo ever has. if forced to choose between the two i'd take cujo, but it's not like the two are light years apart in any respect whatsoever. both are about the same age, both have very close career stats, both are smallish reflex type goalies, both have pretty extensive injury histories. the only real difference is that cujo's never won anything. as far as the rangers being mediocre, i just don't see it. not with bure and holik and kaspar on board. not if lindros can avoid another concussion and richter can avoid another knee surgery. last year even on paper they looked mediocre despite their payroll. this year they look headed in the right direction, and considering the rest of the pathetic conference, i really wouldn't hesitate calling them the team to beat in the east this year.
