A friend of mine told me that I should be wearing brown instead. I told him that black is the more classic approach and that he was un-American freedom hater. Thoughts? Hankk Posted September 13, 2008 Share Posted September 13, 2008 You have a lot of options with a navy suit: black, dark brown, burgundy, oxblood. Black shoes are the most formal and most conservative. I try to stay away from the combination, most frequently wearing burgundy shoes. Unless its a formal wedding, I'm not going to wear black shoes with a navy suit. Usually, you can get a bit creative at a wedding. I think that dark brown shoes are the most stylish with a navy suit.
