Flip_Side
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=3768552 Man my perspective of hockey has changed now. This is really weak, I don't think he should have been suspended in the first place. If he wants to talk about his ex girlfriends let him do so, I didn't see the big deal in it. SeductiveNun
I don't think you're reading deep enough into this situation. Simmering tension between Avery and his teammates and his coach boiled over in the aftermath, with the dressing room united in its stance against him ever wearing a Stars sweater again. Dallas coach Dave Tippett was furious because Avery defied him by even speaking to those reporters. The next day, Tippett made it clear he didn't want Avery back, as did team leaders Mike Modano and Marty Turco. Seems to me that Avery was starting to burn bridges with his coaches and teammates before his asinine comments. It's not the first time he's alienated his teammates and coaches either, so in my opinion it seems that no matter where he goes he becomes a detriment to his team. Can't blame the Stars here if he's been disrupting the team chemistry since getting there, and this incident just put it over the top. I've heard a lot of people defend Avery as to how nice a guy he is with the fans, etc. and while that may be true if he can't get along with teammates, can't listen to his coaches, and causes more strife in the locker room then by all means should a team be able to show him the door. Az posted this in another Avery thread: http://nhl.fanhouse.com/2008/12/04/one-fan...ith-sean-avery/ This is not an isolated incident. Bettman referred to several other "incidents", with the one above probably being one of them. On the surface it looks like a weak move by the NHL, but if you lookd closer at the circumstances, it makes perfect sense.
