Imagine that. and wade won 13 games last year with a team someone else built, too. clearly, that "replace a great head coach with a bumbling idiot yes-man" strategy works. J.D.Morrison Posted January 7, 2009 Share Posted January 7, 2009 The prevailing thought last year was that Wade was holding it down for Garrett ... however, Detroit has asked for and been given permission to interview Garrett. I'd think if Garrett was the Dallas HC in waiting that Jerry wouldn't be so forthcoming in allowing other teams to talk to him. No doubt the release of Jimmy Johnson was the biggest mistake Jerry will ever have made. Had Jimmy stayed the Cowboys would have been the first team to win four super bowls in a row and who knows where they would be now. Personally, I think that Garrett was "exposed" this year and now Jerry is letting him interview simply because he knows he can lure a Shanny or some other offensive-type coach to replace him if indeed he goes..... Since he opened his mouth about Wade staying prematurely, I bet he would be ready to pounce if the decision was made for him (aka Garrett leaving).
