Who will be the next coach for KC?

I have to admit I'm not wild about Haley myself. I would rather them bring in Grimm if we could vote on it. Seems to me like bringing in a guy like Haley is just setting him up for failure, and subsequent replacement next season by a more "desireable" candidate. Who knows what the new braintrust has up their sleeve...

FERENTZ SHOOTS DOWN CHIEFS TALK YET AGAIN

Posted by John Taylor on February 4, 2009, 7:03 p.m. EST

For the better part of a month, Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz’s name has been attached to rumors regarding the Kansas City Chiefs’ head-coaching position.

Once Scott Pioli, Ferentz’s long-time friend, landed the KC general manager job, the rumors ratcheted up a notch or eight.

At a press conference introducing the Hawkeyes’ 2009 recruiting class, Ferentz once again took the opportunity to deny any interest in the Chiefs position.

Speaking to Ivan Maisel of ESPN.com, Ferentz said he’s “not an entrant in the race” to replace Herm Edwards in Kansas City. Part of the reason for the lack of interest, Ferentz said, was the fact that his, James, is a redshirt freshman at Iowa.

“[That's a] big factor,” Ferentz told Maisel.

Ferentz had long been rumored to be Pioli’s top choice for a head coach once he left the NFL’s Patriots. While that may indeed be the case, it’s apparently a one-way street as far as Ferentz is concerned. At least at this point in time.
