Applying Weed & Grass Killer

I want to expand my garden this year because I never got around to it last year. I killed off the grass last year from the area I was planning on using but now it has a lot of weeds. It is a small leave plant with little purple flowers. Ragweed? Anyhow, is it to early to ZAP'em? I want to be ready for planting come spring.

you can zap them for the next 100 years and there will still be weeds. till/ weed it every couple of weeks or get a brier down

I just want to kill them off prior to tilling the area. I will then build me some boxes for raised beds which I mulch after planting. I was just wondering if the roundup would work well enough now. I live in VA.

It sounds like henbit, which is a winter Josh Gordon. What's the temp in VA? Read the label on Round-Up. I don't remember off-hand, but I think it's 60 degrees. If it's warm enough, you can spray it. Best time to control winter weeds is late fall, when they emerge. The earlier you can kill it, the better. But if it's already flowering, it's close to seeding.

Not 60 yet. Suppose to be in the low 50's tomorrow. Maybe I will just pull up what I can and till in the rest.
