Oil Furnace/Burner Replacement

So I bought a home last year in the suburbs after many years of city living and am now having some problems with the circa 1950 Oil Burner/Furnace that came with this joint.

I just had a repairman come in and essentially tell me he rigged it up best he could, but if any part breaks I'm SOL because they don't manufacture them anymore and that I'm probably using 25% more oil (at least) than I would with a new burner/Furnace combo.

Anyone even know ballpark how much that might run me? I asked the repair guy and he was intentionally vague saying he'd as a salesman to contact me (which means I clearly won't be buying from them).

Appreciate it,

WD

I don't deal with oil here in the Midwest. My suggestion: get a couple of bids, and post your model numbers and pricing here (or PM me). I can look up costs to give you a decent idea of who is trying to bend you over.

And ask for high efficiency equipment at this point. You get a tax credit on a high efficiency oil furnace of 30% of the cost up to a $1500 total tax credit. Let me know what I can do to help.
