Advice for newbies

You didn't ask for this, but traditionally this would be the day the newbies freak  . It's just one week and lots of data to pour over... 2 cents:

Trades - If you're deep in a position and have an extra potential star on the bench, trade him, but don't expect the moon. Trades are rare (my experience), because each side wants the advantage and it's hard to find a middle ground.

What to do: If you have a guy like Sprolls, Fred Jackson, Bell, Dallas Clark that you really don't need, trade him now. If you wait one more week, the star might not be so shiny.

What not to do: Freak out and trade your whole team. Guys like AJ are going to be huge, tough D's don't come by every week and it's a long season. Look for value and take a shot, but don't offer three waiver wire prospects for a stud, or a one-week wonder for a stud with an off game... I hate that.

The hardest part is pulling the trigger on a deal you think is a good one, but others would prolly disagree... trust your gut.

good luck
