Scooby
So I was under the impression that our supreme court is balanced with 4 left-leaners, 4 right-leaners and Kennedy as a a swing voter. Also, it was interesting to me that souter (who was replaced w/ sotomayar) was appointed by a republican president, but tended to be a left-leaner throughout his tenure. Basically I am thinking our supreme court is not really dominated by one political affiliation as opposed to another, but an ideal mix? What are your thoughts on the matter? Don't know too much about Kennedy's track record, but from what I gather, he is middle of the road, sometimes voting right, sometimes left. The two worst decisions I can remember have been handed down in the last two years. This most recent fiasco from the conservatives + Kennedy and the eminent domain disaster from the liberals. Bunch of remote lofty old farts with rapidly diminishing relationship to real people and more to vested interests.

This court is pretty darn conservative because Kennedy is pretty conservative. And there is very little crossover in voting from one side to another. An ideal court would be one where the camps were not so clearly demarcated.
