SEC=UGA
My, my aren't we full of ourselves today. Greatest sextet ever? Sorry, not even close. While they weren't bad and each had their moments (even though Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins suck hard in my book), none of them were great and maybe more importantly, none of them lasted. Now I know that a lot of bands implode due to personality issues but I'm thinking it takes more than three albums to be considered great. Today?!?!?!?!? Sorry, I'm a bit Grungy... love the stuff. Though, I will have to say In my cd changer w. those guys are Whitesnake`s Greatest Hits, Poisons Greatest Hits, Motley Crue's Greatest hits, 10,000 Maniacs greatest hits, 3 REM albums, GNR lies, GNR Appetite and VH 1984... OH yes and I have NWA's Straight outta Compton album in there also, good stuff... Edited April 21, 2010 by SEC=UGA
Scooby's Hubby
I beg to differ... Nirvana, Alice in Chains, STP, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Pumpkins, may have been the greatest sextet of bands out at one time, EVER!!! Noe the crap bands that followed from 95-today really need to go away. hey! what about Jane's Addiction and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers? Seahawks21
Nice. I'm not as familiar with him as you are. I do own Jazzmatazz volume 1 and it's a pretty awesome album. For those not in the know, it's not typical hip-hop - as mentioned above he was a pioneer of merging hip-hop and jazz. He does tracks with Brandon Marsalis among others. Yep, yep. The first couple Jazzmatazz projects were unbelievable!! I have to admit that I am probably a bigger fan of the more rugged DJ Premier sound, but the Jazzmatazz stuff was really good for what it was. Tons of artists have tried to go down the road of mixing the two types of music, and for my money Guru pulled it off better than any of them. One of my favorite verses: I self Lord and Master shall bring disaster to evil factors Demonic chapters, shall be captured by Kings Through the storms of days after Unto the Earth from the Sun through triple darkness to blast ya with a force that can`t be compared to any firepower, for it`s mindpower shared The brainwake, causes vessels to circulate like constellations reflect at night off the lake Word to the father, and Mother Earth Seeking everlasting life through this Hell for what it`s worth Look listen and observe and watch another C-Cypher pullin my peeps to the curb Heed the words; it`s like ghetto style proverbs The righteous pay a sacrifice to get what they deserve Cannot afford to be confined to a cell Brainwaves swell, turnin a desert to a well Experience the best teacher; thoughts will spray like street sweepers Little Daddy street preacher Illustrious feature, narrator you select Accompanied by Deck plus the DJ you respect The seven and a half combine, over the frontline The ten percenters, promotin slander in the airtime Bear in mind jewels be the tools of the trade Sharp veins heavenly praise and dues are paid - first verse from "above the clouds"
