Mi6op
Just drafted, 18 players in roster PPR league w/ 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, TE, K, DST It's a sudo-keeper and when I say that I can assign up to 30 years of contracts but don't have to use them all. Obviously I'm using at least 18 for this season as I have 18 rosters to fill Here is my team and the round I drafted them in. If you could help give me some years to throw at guys I would appreciate it. Thanks! QB Tony Romo 4th Alex Smith 12th RB DeAngelo Williams 3rd Matt Forte 5th CJ Spiller 6th Tim Hightower 9th Brandon Jacobs 15th Jason Snelling 11 WR Andre Johnson 1st Reggie Wayne 2nd Lee Evans 7th Chris Chambers 13 Jabar Gaffney 10 Devery Henderson 16 TE Zach Miller 8 Hoomanawanui 18 D/ST Packers D/ST 14 K David Akers

ts
I don't play in any leagues that use this contract-keeper format, so I can't really suggest from experience what the "right" number of contract years might be for each player - but it would seem to me that the guys listed below are the ones that warrant some sort of "long term" contract consideration: > Romo - likely to be a quality NFL starter for a while on a team with a high powered offense > Wayne/Johnson - not rookies anymore, but should be at or near the top of their games for another 2-3 seasons > Spiller - rookie with upside potential if he stays healthy & the Bills start to turn things around > DeAngelo - NFL RBs have a short shelf life, but he may be worth locking up for another 1-2 seasons I assume that the more contract years (of your 30 available) that you use up this year, the fewer that are "open" for use next season, ie when you draft a new crop of players (rookies or vets?) so in this league format it might be worth doing some research now to try & speculate what NCAA players may be the top rookie prospects for next years NFL draft. Footballjoe
what happens if you decide to cut a player? Do yo get all his years back? Only one? None? That's need to know info. I like giving my studs and projected studs long term deals but if you do not get any years back in case they are a bust and you have to release them then that stratagy could bite you in the butt. Mi6op
TS this is my first time with this type of format and I was thinking the same things as you. I figure a 3 year contract for Wayne, maybe even a 4 for Johnson would be good. I don't know if I want to lock Romo up for too long as there are many servicable QB's, however you are right that he is a up and comer. So here is what I am thinking for my allocation: Andre Johnson- 3 years Reggie Wayne- 2 years Deangelo Williams - 2 years He's 27 now and I don't know if I want to throw too much time at him when in the 2012 draft I can probably get a better quality guy on draft day. Spiller- 3 Romo- 2 That puts me at 30. And the penalty for dropping someone with years left is you forfeit your 1st round pick in next years draft.
