Check my math please...

So during the power failure I ran out my LT batts in about 8 hours. I have a car w/ a 110V-100W outlet.

I thought I could drive around and charge it up, but I looked up the specs on the transformer and it said 110v @1.6a.

Using Ohm's Law:

W = V x I

I came up w/ 176 Watts or 76W too many.

My cell phone was rated @ 0.6a so I figured it was safe at 66W.

Did I do it right?

:wacko:

I think your math is correct, but am not sure that makes sense. I have a car charger for my LT that plugs into the cig lighter with no issues. I would think a laptop would've been fine to plug into a car 110v outlet as that is why they are there mostly, portable electronics that is. If it is too much draw it would only likely blow a fuse.

I was thinking the same thing, but maybe the cigarette lighter has a higher amperage output to begin w/ and/or maybe the LT device trickles the current at a lower draw rate.

Maybe, not sure, I would actually give a shot, but I am known to have some "Oops's" every now and then.

FWIW...

I talked to my electronic guy today. Seems like they put a wimpy inverter in the cars. Bottom line is the cigarette lighter is major beefed up wire wise.

Anyway thanks for the info. :wacko:
