Who has "really" missed the NHL

Originally from Hibbing, now I live in the Twin Cities.  Watching the sectional playoffs to see if my old Bluejackets can get in again, and hoping Tartan makes it a second year in a row as well.

Maybe by some stroke of luck someone can take down Moorhead. Their starting 5 players have already signed w/ D1 colleges. :D I guess one kid was playing for the USA team.

I don't get into the NHL until after football season for the most part - really, EVERY other sport has such long seasons and the NHL and NBA have such huge playoff pools that it really isn't worth the effort to invest in "your" team until the all-star break anyway.

But now that we're two weeks past the SB, I'm jonesing for some good hockey action. Fortunately, we've got a local AHL franchise that's pretty good (won the Calder Cup last year) so a few games of theirs should ease the boredom until baseball starts up.

NASCAR is basically what rednecks watch instead of golf in the dead season.

You wouldn't be talking about Milwaukee Admirals woud you? Being from Milwaukee area myself I am also excited about them and hope to make a few games this year.

Living in SE Michigan my whole life I do miss it, not as much as I miss the old Norris days when the Wings battled the Hawks, Leafs, Blues, and North Stars, but the Spring won't be the same without playoff Hockey even Wings/Nashville.

I caught one High School game a few weekends back and enjoyed it, the hitting, fast pace play, no sport is quite the same.

I think what is happening now though is good for the game in the long run. I know people don't agree, but it's necessary and will only hurt the Wings, so no Homer slant there.
