Dr. Rock
I wish I still had the link to the story, but I can't for the life of me find it (it was in the Boston Globe a week or two ago I think). But it basically said this: Scott Pioli's contract runs out after this season. Giants GM Ernie Accorsi has long said he plans to retire either after this season or next. Pioli grew up in CT as a Giants fan, and married Bill Parcells' daughter. Pioli refused to even discuss the Browns or Seahawks GM offers of about $3 million a year to stay in his $800,000/year job with the Pats - supposedly out of loyalty. But is it possible that he knows instead of taking more money to go somewhere else right now, he can stay in his great situation for one more year and then get his dream job? I don't know how true or feasible this is. But if the Giants were able to attract Pioli as the GM next year after Accorsi is gone.. I can't even express how HUGE that would be.
