A Little Bit Special
Free-agent visits: Free-agent safety Arturo Freeman is scheduled to visit the Packers on Thursday. Freeman, 28, was released in February by the Miami Dolphins in a salary-related move. If he signs with the Packers, Freeman would be reunited with former Dolphins defensive coordinator and interim head coach Jim Bates, who is in his first season as the Packers’ defensive coordinator. Last season, Freeman started nine games for the Dolphins. The Packers have only two experienced safeties, Mark Roman and Todd Franz, on their roster after releasing Darren Sharper and Michael Hawthorne and losing Bhawoh Jue in free agency. So Fins fans, would this be a good signing for GB, considering their lack of experience at the position?
'canes2004
Freeman is a decent player. Has a good feel at the safety position. Personally I think he's suited better for the weak side but he can play both. Jim Bates is a big fan of his and had issues with Wanny who wasn't a supporter of him. One of the first things Bates did when he was named HC was to insert him into the starting line-up. Was tied for the team lead in INT's with 4 and also had 38 tackles (22 solo). He was pretty much released for cap reasons (almost 3 mil) seeing as the Dolphins needed the space. He's a good aquisition for the Pack plus he's re-united with Bates who I'm sure had a big part in the Pack getting him. He's should be an upgrade to a very suspect Pack secondary. A Little Bit Special
Thanks. They haven't signed him yet. So far he's only scheduled a visit, but with the Bates connection and the need at safety I'm assuming they'll will be.
