The former University of Illinois star Thursday proclaimed Memorial Stadium "the House that Rice Built" as he returns to Champaign as the NFL sack leader and part of the league's No. 1 defense with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sunday night's Bears game will be his first there since he left Illinois as the third pick of the 1996 draft. The feeling is "euphoric," Rice said. "It's the house that I built," he said. "It's going back there in front of the crowd that I played in front of, in front of a peer group that I was once around, in front of friends and family."
