Menudo
Doesn't the defending Super Bowl champ play in the next year's Thursday opener. Not sure if that is a hard-fast rule, but seems to be the case, correct me if I'm wrong. If it is, here are the Steelers home games: Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver, Kansas City, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Miami Seems like the Steelers - Broncos would be the obvious choice. NinersIn2006!
You are correct...I would say Denver or Cincinnati...
Whiskey Pimp
I've put my guess in on a few threads over the past few weeks. I will say DEN@PIT. If not, it will be CIN@PIT.
Bengal Mania
The NFL gets to decide, right? Then in my opinion, if they pick Cin@Pitt, when Palmer may not even play (and even if he does, will be nowhere near fully back yet), then I'm convinced the NFL is a bunch of sucks who want the Steelers story line again. I can see it now. The Steelers beat the Doug Johnson-led bengals on Thursday night, and then you schmoes come on here and say the Steelers "own" the Bengals, and that it didn't matter that Johnson was the QB. If the NFL wants to be fair, since it's the Steelers who knocked Palmer out, they should schedule both Bengals-Steelers games for the last 6 weeks of the season. I too hope that Palmer is at full strenght for both Steelers games. Isn't there a chance that he will be ready for the opener, or did I miss something ? I thought the initial prognosis was that he would be ready for camp.

I believe you that you want Palmer back healthy, no need to convince me. Yes, there's a chance he'll be ready, definitely. There's also a chance his career is over. There's also a chance his career will be impacted but-not-over. The hard part is we won't have a clue until July at the absolute earliest. I'm just saying that the marquis draw a Bengals/Steelers game would bring has to be with a healthy Palmer. And none of us will know that when the schedule is announced. Even if he plays (I think that's 50-50 at best, there are a lot of rumors of 6-week PUP list for Carson), he will not be "fully back" So the schedule makers ought to at least give that rematch game the benefit of letting Palmer get healthy and a chance to work out the rust. 2 late season games is the ticket, a Good Monday night rematch in Cincy sounds good. Let Denver have the Steelers. The Thurs game is a farce anyway, the season ought to open of Sunday, Football Day. Edit to add: Maybe Chris Henry can bring his piece to town and shoot that b!.tch that put the hit on Palmer! Edit to add: Lighten up, folks, I'm not advocating violence. If I was, I'd post it on a fan web-site! Edited February 8, 2006 by Bengal Mania

I've always liked it...although it cuts into the time to draft your fantasy team...but its always a fun way to open the season with one "marquee game"

By the time the season is ready to start, I am so excited that getting an early primetime game is great !
