hooknladder
I know we've been talking alot about how scheme can hurt/help a player, and i realize Vilma was hurt badly by a scheme change. (and maybe just a little by losing Abraham), but i have to believe the Jets will get him more involved this year. -is this possible?....-or is the scheme the end-all, be-all,ball and chain, destroying all fantasy value again this year? Just dont expect 2005 type numbers from him in this system.
Fatman
Rovers had a good camp report a few weeks ago, talked about the Jets playing a 4-3 on about 60% of the snaps. What that means for the season, who knows. I'm expecting Vilma to be in the top 10-12. Defintiely better than last year, but not anything like 05. Rovers
Well, that's why I go to TC as many times as I can. One day they may be working on the 4-3, and the next day you don't see it at all. With TC now over, I am left with the impression that the Jets will run a 4-3 perhaps 20% of the time, but it will not be consistant from game to game. Mangini will run more of one look vs. another against any given opponent. I think it would be a fair expectation to look for Vilma's FF numbers to go up between 10 to 20%. Thing is, he has this year and next on the current contract. Was the drafting of Harris an anticipatory move to eventually replace Vilma? If he ever lands in a 4-3 again, he can be a top five LB. Vilma himself said "Don't expect to see me going from sideline to sideline in this scheme, unless it's in the nickle. This scheme does not permit that." The Jets ran virtually no 4-3 last year. They will definitely run some this year, becoming more of the hybrid D Mangini promised. In a dynasty league, I'd try and buy Vilma low now, and see if he remains with the Jets beyond next year.
