cre8tiff
OK, so he was a fantastic WW pickup. And performed pretty darn well, without Jacobs in. But now that Jacobs has arrived, the idea Ward was gonna be the "between the 20s" back or a pass catcher part of a RBBC seems to have evaporated. Week 5: Jacobs: rush 20 for 100 1 TD pass 1 for 0 Ward: rush 13 for 56 1 TD pass 3 for 8 Droughns: rush 2 for 15 pass nada So the numbers are looking pretty much 60/40 split Week 6: Jacobs: rush 13 for 86 pass 1 for 2 Ward: rush 8 for 12 1TD pass 2 for 16 Droughns: rush 14 for 90 1TD pass nada Now Droughns showed up big here, in replacement of Jacobs as he got hurt. So if those carries go to Jacobs, Ward seriously took a slide. (Of course that is pure speculation on my part). Now, I thought Ward's soft hands would figure in, and last nights game blew that theory out of the water as he dropped 2 of the 4 passes that went to him. Not that 4 is a staggering number to begin with. So this is a real headscratcher for me. What exactly IS Ward's role in this offense? Do we continue to see the neighborhood of 60/40, with Droughns vulturing TDs, or is Ward in reality fading in effectiveness, due to whatever reason (injury, etc.)? Or <shudder> are we still looking at an RBBC, but with Jacobs and Droughns sharing the rock, and Ward occasionally coming in? Tough one to call, at least for a FF scrub like me. Kid Cid
Yeah, Ward is dinged up too, that's why Droughns got the rock last night. In a perfect world, the Giants RB depth chart would be Jacobs>Ward>Droughns. Right now, they only seem to play the one hurt the least.
