Savage Beatings
What kind of weirdness is going on with Troy Smith in Baltimore? This pre-season he was looking like he was going to be the starting QB. Then he went down with some kind of illness with his tonsils. I think that was well over a month ago. Now we're starting week 3 and he is still listed as Out with an illness. Is the team just playing games with his status now, or is he really seriously messed up? What the heck could happen with someone's tonsils to keep them out of work for over a month?
ts
• 16SEP08 Associated Press: Ravens quarterback Troy Smith has been cleared to resume light workouts after losing about 20 pounds due to complications from what began as a severe case of tonsillitis. Smith, the 2006 Heisman Trophy winner, has been fighting a blood clot in his neck, which led to an infection in his lung. He has not practiced with the Ravens since Aug. 22. Dr. Andrew Tucker, the Ravens' head team physician, said Monday that Smith's illness was "extraordinarily unlucky."
loaf
problem I heard was that he lost close to 30 lbs with this infection. He needs to put some weight on and get back to playing shape first.
