CaptainHook
The news that Anthony Gonzalez had tweaked his ankle was news to Anthony Gonzalez. "I feel good," the Indianapolis Colts receiver said Monday afternoon. "I feel really good." Asked if he was optimistic he would be available when the Colts return to action against the Houston Texans in a key AFC South clash Monday night at Lucas Oil Stadium, Gonzalez paused only briefly. "I would be surprised if I didn't play," he said. That wasn't the message delivered Sunday by ESPN.com. It reported that Gonzalez, who has missed the past five games with a high sprain to his right ankle, had tweaked the same ankle during practice last week. The medical update interrupted an otherwise quiet and uneventful three-day weekend for Gonzalez. "It's a little frustrating when you get a bunch of calls and text messages," he said. "It was like, 'Hey, I thought you were feeling good? What's going on?' " The short answer: nothing. "I have no idea where that's coming from," Gonzalez said. "Look, the guy didn't make it up. I'm sure somebody told him. Whoever that is told him a lie, though. No tweaking, nothing. It's day-to-day, but there certainly wasn't any setback last week. I thought last week went well." Gonzalez sprained his ankle in the season-opening loss at Houston and insisted "it's still a recovering injury." from indystar.com
munygon2
Gonzalez sprained his ankle in the season-opening loss at Houston and insisted "it's still a recovering injury."[/i] That doesn't make you feel real confident though. I wonder if he splits time with White, making the both risky starts?
CaptainHook
As I've stated in another thread, White has played exclusively on the outside with the Colts. I have not seen him line up in the slot. Gonzalez is the only other Colt with experience there. If he's healthy, I think that's where he'll be. tonyr0802
I dunno, we had some pretty strong winds here today. Be willing to bet they blew him over and he hurt his mangina.
Balzac
As I've stated in another thread, White has played exclusively on the outside with the Colts. I have not seen him line up in the slot. Gonzalez is the only other Colt with experience there. If he's healthy, I think that's where he'll be. Doesn't mean he can't do it. He was essentially subbing in for Garcon when he got run earlier this season, no? Garcon is an outside guy, so it only makes sense he'd line up outside. While you're probably 100% correct, I think we're not going to know whether White can be a slot guy until Monday . . . from what I've seen and read, his skill set is certainly more along the lines of an underneath/middle/slot guy (ie, crisp routes, great hands, not-so-great speed). CaptainHook
No, you're right. It is possible White could see some action inside. But the slot position is tougher than playing outside. I don't see an undrafted FA rookie being thrown in there like that. I think it's far more likely that Gonzo plays there. Or if Gonzo is injured, I could see White and Garcon on the outside, and Wayne in the slot.

CaptainHook
ESPN's Chris Mortensen tweeted that Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) is "ready" for Monday night vs. Houston.
Slugs3511
O.k.. so what the He___ does that mean? Is White worth a start as a bye week fill-in? Or should most people go out and find another ww to start?
CaptainHook
It means Blair White will most likely NOT get the start or see as much playing time, until Gonzo's next inevitable injury.

cthomte
Gonzalez participated fully in practice today (Thursday). He practiced again today (Friday).. but ESPN has him at 0/0/0 and have said this about him: "Gonzalez is saying that he's optimistic about his return to action this week. All we keep seeing in our head is the Black Knight from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" saying, "'Tis but a scratch!"" On injury news its stated Gonz has been practicing and Whites neck injury isn't listed.. Also they have said that each could have a large roll with all the players the colts have out.. questions have been and still are.... Who do you start? Are both playing? Who will get more looks/time on the field? Who will play the outside or in? Edit: Just saw this article from rotoworld. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...8098&spln=1 Not sure if I should start them but im going to take the gamble with players on BYE week and the colts being a passing team with peyton manning doesnt hurt.. also playing the Houston Texans so thats pretty big time too.. BearBroncos
I picked up both Gonzo and Tamme. I'm not willing to start Gonzo yet, but Tamme I am against a retched Houston CB core.

Just thought I'd let you know that I busted your quote out today to some folks who agreed and laughed. Words of wisdom.
