Danario Alexandar

Anybody else tempted to grab this guy off waivers now that he's made the cut? I wouldn't see the Rams dropping Avery AND Marty G if they thought Danario couldn't be productive, but the knee concerns me.

Still, with Bradford chucking him the ball it's really tempting to me to stash him away before week 1. I could see him going off early and making good trade bait if nothing else.

Depends how deep your league is and what you will be giving up to pick him up.

I'd probably drop Helu.

Also huddle gods, on player rankings you show no 2010 stats for him while he did indeed play and have SOME stats.

From 2 other threads in the top third of page 1:

The news was better for Danario Alexander, who survived Saturday's cuts despite twice missing practice time in camp because of knee soreness. After five surgeries, his left knee probably isn't going to get any better, but the Rams apparently couldn't turn their backs on the heart and playmaking ability of the former University of Missouri star.

"I'll tell you one thing: He is a tough nut," Steve Spagnuolo said after Alexander underwent an MRI exam on the knee Aug. 22 only to return to practice the next day. "He wants this thing bad. He is a competitor and I respect him for that."

Toughest freakin' guy in post-op, 5 times running.

The guy may have great heart and be tough as nails, but one thing is a fact in the NFL - if you don't have the wheels, you can't play. I just don't understand the thinking that a guy's left knee is suddenly going to function as if nothing is wrong after he has a history of 5 - count 'em, 5! - surguries on that knee.

On the other hand, I smell McDaniels in the Avery release. Maybe Avery wouldn't genuflect and kiss McD's arse. It wouldn't be the first time a good player got his walking papers because he refused to allow McD's stool all over his nose.

That said, as a guy who only owns Salas of all the STL receivers, I'm pretty happy with what happened. There should be some opportunity opening for him in the very near future with this crew.

As far as FF value, if Helu is there in the last round or two of my draft and I'm looking for flyers, this kid is at the top of my list. What Shanahan doesn't know about QB evaluation, he's pretty much the best in the league at finding RBs who can absolutely thrive in his system. Helu has all the qualifiers about being a surprise 1200+ yd rusher and Shanahan loves speed at the position, almost to the point of being irrational about it at times (Tatum Bell/Quentin Griffith, anyone?}. Torain, when uninjured, has the plowhorse one-cut deceptive burst tenaciousness that made some Shanahan RBs very good rushers in the NFL, but Helu has what makes Mike drool - a serious case of the quicks.

Big fan of Alexanders and I probally would not drop my backup TE for him. You read he swells up after games. his knee is gone and he is all heart as the above says. he might come in for a goal line play etc and that might be enough for the Rams but hes not really an option for fantasy, I believe he just has his knee worked on again after 2 pre season games. hes probably done but got to give the Rams credit for sticking with a gamer like Alexander. Seems his being on the team is more to show him that he tried and less that he really can do it. But I wish him the best and hope he shows everyone wrong.
