Chavez
Wow. Tough break for USC, but I have to admit, I'm not very disappointed to have the #1 ranked team out of the Pac 10 playing the consensus #4 from the Big Ten in the Granddaddy of 'em all. West Coast flash and dash vs Midwestern grit and strength in the Rose Bowl - the way it oughta be. I lean to the Michigan side of the fence here, but they've gotta hope that "Good Navarre" shows up and plays the whole game, because I don't know that their solid D can do much more than slow the Trojan attack. Early line/over/under is SC -6 1/2, o/u 56.
Clubfoothead
I don't think Michigan's defense is getting the credit it deserves, neither is their schedule. While USC is 1-0 against opponents currently ranked in the top 20, Michigan is 3-1. The two teams share one common opponent, Notre Dame. Michigan beat them 38-0, USC beat them 45-14. Should be one heck of a game.
Coffeeman
ClubFH, I don't think USC's D gets the respect it deserves either. Why does eveyone say that the PAC10 can't play "smashmouth" D when they have to? USC shut down Auburn's Cadillac Williams and just shut down the top PAC10 back in SJackson, and both will probably be playing on Sundays soon. But the boys did give up over 100 once this year, to Cal, so I'm not saying we are a wall. If UM thinks they can pound the ball all day vs. USC and win going away, they are sadly mistaken. If you look at passing stats, it looks like USC can't defend the pass, but the stats are misleading. It's nice when the other guys try to run early then have to abandon it in the 2nd half and pass to catch up. Then USC can sit back and get picks and sacks and fumbles, widening the scoring gap. They stop the run and dare the QB to beat them, and very few can. Our D-line and LBs are crazy quick, and don't forget #28 Will Poole is a future NFL corner. So if Navarre can't quickly get to his second or third read, he'll be on his back all day. I think it will be a great game, but USC should win by at least 10-14....
