Grits and Shins
Heard an idea on ESPN radio yesterday that I kind of liked. Set up a playoff bracket between ALL conference champions. If you aren't in a conference, get in one or you aren't eligible. If your conference doesn't have a championship, get one or your conference isn't eligible. Kansas State 2000
The real problem with a playoff in college football is when would you would have it. The season is over in late November with conference championships over in early December. So a playoff could not begin until mid December at the earliest. The players are students and students have finals in the middle of December. So the player would miss games or not be able to practice at the very least during that time. All the other division in football don't have a problem. Shorten the regular season so that it is over by the end of November.

The BIG 12 just today is saying they will try to get the NCAA to alllow them to play 12 regular season games instead of 11. The teams make way to much money in those games to take them away. Grits and Shins
Of course that means it's all about the money then ... and the national champion will always be the most popular team; the one to get the most votes at the end of the day. justin
Kansas State 2000: Why do we still have 500000000 bowls? Money!!! Agreed. It's mostly bout the money. But to an extent it is about getting a the maximum number of schools and their fans involved in the bowl system, which yes, translates into more money. more fans = more money
