Penn State with 3 first place votes and Alabama with none. In other words, the voters have Penn State as a very strong #3 right now, and it means that if the 3 whiners known as Fla, Oklahoma, and USC are to overcome the fact that they haven't taken care of business, they will have to win some of these next games very convincingly to even be in striking distance to overtake an undefeated Penn State. It just isn't going to happen. An undefeated BCS team will never get left out, UNLESS you have a case like in 2004 where there are 2 other teams from BCS conferences that are undefeated.

Nobody on this board who is a Florida alum has been a whiner. While I certainly believe that Florida could defeat any team in the nation, we lost to an unranked team at home. There is a price to be paid for that lapse. And there are no excuses. It certainly doesn't mean that I would be rooting for every team in front of Florida to lose.

Couldn't USC still win another AP NC?

I suppose they could. Of course that would probably require them to be #1 in the AP and Coaches poll, and somehow NOT be in the "National Championship" game. But who cares about that, I care about what the New York Times Computer poll says.

Pretty sure USC only has to be voted #1 in the AP at the end of the season.

Perhaps, but you have to admit, it didn't hurt USC that they were ranked #1 in the coaches poll as well before the bowls. I think had LSU been ranked #1 in the coaches poll, perhaps the AP would have taken a closer look at LSU that year in there win over Oklahoma.
