Colts will bench players once they clinch

This was on CBS Sportsline's fantasy football page.

News: According to NFL writer Peter King, Colts head coach Tony Dungy said that he will rest his starters as soon as his team can clinch home-field advantage in the AFC. "It's really kind of a no-brainer," said Dungy. "As soon as the games aren't meaningful in the standings, [resting starters to preserve them for the playoffs] is something we'll think about. They don't give out rings for being 16-0."

Analysis: Fantasy Footballers who reach the Week 16 championship and have Peyton Manning, Edgerrin James, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark and even the Colts DST could lost their stars for half a game or more. If trades are still allowed, now is the time to deal these players since their value is still high.

Well, I guess the scenarios are: they play everyone all game when they are 14-0 going into game #15, one of their key guys gets hurt, and that leads to their losing in the playoffs.

Or

They rest the key guys in the last two weeks, go 14-2 or 15-1, and win the Super Bowl.

Can you imagine the criticism Dungy would receive were the former to occur?

Man, I disagree. There has never been an NFL team in the history of the league that went 16-0 in the regular season. You can't tell me that they'd bench their starters if they make it to 14-0. I just can't believe that.
