danvan
My team is in sig. Its a keeper league and Priest was dropped by his owner, he needed help in other places for the playoffs. What is his outlook for next year? Is he worth dropping someone to pick up? In our league you can keep your entire roster, but i made a trade earlier in the year that got me a first and second round pick, so I will only be keeping ten players. SpinalTapp
Short answer is yes. He is worth owning. I would not drop a starting RB or #1 or #2WR, but I would cut the usual roster fodder to stash him on my team in the event he returns. Who knows what his role will be - I bet it would be reversed from this year if he plays in KC. But, he could also be traded or cut and go somewhere else. craiginthecapital
With your roster and options, I'd pick him up and plan on not protecting Falcons, Winslow, Benson, or Culpepper.
msmith379
Priest was put on IR so he will not be back this year at all. If it is a keeper league you might do it but I believe that Priest's role if he comes back next will be similar to Marshall Faulk's.
msmith379
Sorry should have read your post better that you are in a keeper league. If you think it is worst a roster spot to hold onto Priest this year then do it but the word in KC (that's where I live) is that Priest is still going to retire but that he is trying to wait a few more weeks when he goes back for tests to see if he is getting better. Priest got a contact extention a few years ago (the year after he hurt his hip) but he hasn't been playing on that money yet. That contract doesn't start until next year plus he got a big signing bonus that the Chiefs could ask back if he doesn't come back. This sounds like he may work out a settlement in the offseason with the Chiefs IMO. Hope that helps
msmith379
I keep forgetting stuff to say. Last week Priest said on a radio talk show that he would accept a similar role as Marshall Faulk next year if he comes back.
