How to use a injured status?

I play fantasy football with cbssportsline. I see they have a injured status for players on the lineup page. How does that work? We have no limit on running backs and because of that, there are no backs to pick up if one gets hurt. I am the commissioner and I am think of putting a limit on how many backs a team can carry. But if I do that, I need to know how the injured status works. Thanks for any help!

not sure on the IR,we don't use it either. Our league has a limit of carrying 2 players more than the # of starters you play.for example if you must start 2 rb's you can only carry 4,start 3 wr's you can only carry 5....this has helped on the WW

Do you mean adding a IR slot?

If you want to do this, the player must be declared out for the game (or use on IR for keeper and dynasty leagues)

The IR slot and positional limits are separate issues, except anyone on IR would be exempt from the limit.
