Here are the results of ESPN.com's poll, asking 32 of ESPN's baseball experts (named below) to list the top 10 greatest living pitchers. Points were awarded on a 1-10 scale (10 for a first-place vote down to a 1 for a 10th-place vote).

Carlton is getting dissed at #9.

He had a better career than Johnson and Pedro and was more dominate than Maddux. Could be better than Feller too but I never saw him play. I don't think he is far behind Seaver if he is behind him at all.

 

Oh well, the more prominate players in one's memory will always be higher.

I was going to suggest doing a "greatest dead pitchers" survey, but perhaps with the untimely demise of both Steve Howe and Russ Swan in the last week, maybe we should wait.

Yep, Spahn is dead, I thought so but couldn't remember. Imagine if he hadn't gone to war for 3 years what his final numbers would have been.

 

Not to take away anything from Ted Williams and Christy Mathewson, mind you.
