I carefully cut out the signature and then went through several old newspapers we had lying around and cut out the various letters to make an "I'm proud of you, son" letter and glued my Dad's signature to it. I hung it on my wall next to the 3rd place trophy I won...okay, found in the trash at school. My Dad saw the letter one night and tried to read it through his drunken stupor. He got out the word "I'm" before passing out in his own feces and urine. I moved his mouth to say the rest. It was a special moment that I'll never forget.
