Randall
IRVING, Texas - New York Giants linebacker LaVar Arrington is out for the season after tearing his left Achilles' tendon in the second quarter against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night. ADVERTISEMENT The Giants also lost defensive end Osi Umenyiora to a strained hip in their 36-22 victory. He went down late in the second quarter, returned for the start of the third but lasted only one play. He was helped back to the locker room, and the team said he's questionable for next week. Arrington was hurt chasing down Dallas' Julius Jones on a running play. Arrington ended up on the turf in obvious pain, with doctors calling for a motorized cart to get him to the locker room. "It felt like somebody hit me in the back of the leg, but there was nobody there," Arrington said. "When I went down, I knew it. I just didn't feel right." Doctors told Arrington that it was "an injury that I could come back from and be the same player." He could be out six months. Arrington was among the reasons the Giants took a 12-7 halftime lead, having sacked Dallas quarterback Drew Bledsoe in the end zone for a safety in the first quarter. It was one of four sacks for New York to that point; Umenyiora had one, too. Arrington is in his first season with New York after playing six years for Washington. The safety was his first sack with the Giants. "That was sad. We lose a player," coach Tom Coughlin said. "He was getting better every day." The Giants also played the second half without cornerback Frank Walker, who strained a hamstring.
timberho27
What a bummer that injury is, the first game he starts playing like the player we thought he was, and now he's done for the year. Unfortunately I think that is the last time we'll see him in a giants uniform.
Dirty Sanchez
What a bummer that injury is, the first game he starts playing like the player we thought he was, and now he's done for the year. Unfortunately I think that is the last time we'll see him in a giants uniform. It's not a career ending injury. LT did the same thing in his last few years with the G-Men and he came back the next season.
ced1001
I'm not the biggest fan of the guy but there's no doubt he's as physically gifted as any LB I've ever seen. It seemed like he was just beginning to find his place within the Giants system... whcih he could not do in Washington. But another tough break... the guy just can't stay healthy.
