CaptainHook
Uh, no, Peyton Manning's people say, he isn't spending his offseason making profitable appearances at "Sweet 16'' birthday parties, despite claims on a popular Web site. "It wasn't a 'Sweet 16' party. It was a corporate outing,'' a spokesman for IMG, which handles appearances and endorsements for the Indianapolis Colts' much-in-demand quarterback, replied in an e-mail to The Star on Wednesday. "Peyton, like many athletes, performers and celebrities, occasionally agrees to offers for private appearances." The posting on deadspin.com included photos of Manning dancing with people at the event at an undisclosed location. Using an unnamed "attendee'' as its source, the site said Manning received $200,000 for a two-hour appearance. The IMG spokesman declined to say what Manning received for the event but insisted the estimate was "way off.'' Whenever Manning accepts fees for corporate and charity events, sports outings or "a business milestone like last week's event,'' the spokesman said, Manning's PeyBack Foundation benefits. link to Indy Star Edited March 8, 2007 by CaptainHook
