wiegie Posted March 23, 2007 Share Posted March 23, 2007 Breaking News: Passenger cleared05:53 PM EDT on Friday, March 23, 2007 The passenger who caused a flight landing in Charlotte to be quarantined after claiming he had smallpox does not have the disease, said Carolinas Medical Center spokesperson Scott White. Passengers aboard a US Airways flight from New Orleans to Charlotte were quarantined after that passenger, who airline officials said was intoxicated, shouted that he had exposed everyone to smallpox. Video On Demand AirStar6 video of passenger being removed NEW video at this hour The health department authorized local paramedics to take that person off Flight 1014 to be tested. Meanwhile, under federal guidelines, all 113 passengers had to stay put until the threat could be confirmed or proven false. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, the Mecklenburg County Health Department, and US Airways officials are on the scene.
