As long as Russia knows it could annihilate the United States in response, it can be reasonably sure that the US will not attack it with nuclear weapons. Now, if the US has an effective anti-ballistic missile system, Russia cannot annihilate the US with nuclear weapons. No more MAD. The deterrence that the Russian counter-strike posed is gone. Russia is feeling vulnerable. Russia doesn't give a rat's ass about the potential danger posed to the US by so-called rogue states. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
