jimmyfowler
Kitna vs. OAK Schaub vs. KC Garrard vs. TEN Who do I select in week 1? Scoring is as follows. Passing; 1 point per 30 yards, 3 points per TD. Rushing; 1 point per 10 yards, 6 points per TD...
ts
Might as well take a shot with Garrard given the matchup ... DelRio decided to do so.
Furd
So you have Kitna (who you likely drafted in the first 6 rounds), who most people think will be a top 5 or 6 QB this year. And then you have a couple of scrubs (one of whom may have potential, but is unproven) who went in the late rounds of your draft (if at all) as backup QBs. Aren't you overthinking a bit? And why the SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS !!! do you have 3 QBs on your roster?
jimmyfowler
Salary cap league, and they're all in the same general price bracket. And with the big reward on rushing, if garrard rushes for, say, 30 yards and a score, that'd be 9 points right there. If Kitna thew for 30 yards and a score, it'd be 4 points. Say Kitna goes big - 300 yards and 2 TDs. That's 16 points. Say Garrard goes for 180 yards, 1 TD, 30 yards rushing and a rushing TD. That's 18 points. See how Garrard suddenly becomes a much more viable choice? Edited September 4, 2007 by jimmyfowler

Kitna is the clear choice here - you shouldn't start a QB hoping he gets you some points by rushing. He's a QB - his 1st priority is to throw the ball, which Kitna should do much more effectively than the other 2. The only guy you should start at QB to get rushing points is currently in jail. See how Garrard suddenly becomes a much more viable choice? No. How many times in his career has Garrard rushed for 30 yards in a game? What about last year? How many rushing TDs does he have total? How many of those came with Jones-Drew (a TD machine) on the field? And there isn't a "big reward" on rushing. It gets a bump, because you get a point every 30 yards passing (instead of the normal 20). But there's a reason that the Huddle has Kitna ranked as the number 5 QB and Garrard ranked as the number 21. If you think your scoring rules skew the rankings that much, start Garrard. I don't see it.
ts
Not defending or tanking Garrard, but in 9 games where he played a significant number of plays last year, he ran for 30+ yards four time ... zero rushing TDs.
TOTONKA
i would have to go with either one but kitna this week raiders pass def. is the second best in the league.
RylenolFlu
I agree with Uncle Wiggly, Kitna is the starter even though the Oakland D is tought against the pass, any QB in Mike Martz's system is one worth having start for your fantasy team.
