The Spanish goverment (insert any government for that matter) did not know it existed, did not know where to go even if they did, did nothing to retrieve it in the past 203 years, cannot prove it was even a spanish ship and yet they want their healthy cut. It is 185 MILES off the coast of Gibraltar. For that matter, the coins are supposed to be "plundered from Spain's American colonies" so the U.S. government should make a similar claim as should the relatives of the indigenous people from those colonies from which Spain stole it from. Everyone wants something for nothing. I'd just tell them I dumped it out in the ocean and they can go find it themselves. Of course I would have a second ship and ...
