Planning a trip to Vermont

More importantly, while in Vermont, hit these in this order of priority:

Magic Hat Brewery, Burlington (Best of the VT beers)

Long Trail Brewery, Southern part of state

Otter Creek Brewery, Eastern part of state

Burlington is a cool town to hang out in. The downtown area has a lot to do, good food, and good bars/nightlife since it is a college town.

You will have to drive to ski from Burlington, but it would be my preference. As for skiing, the advice given so far is good, Killington is packed with touristas, so choose some of the smaller mountains for more fun. If you like moguls, Pico is awesome.

We always make sure to hit the Magic Hat Brewery when in Burlington :D

Hi gang,

I never been to Vermont but I want to plan a trip for the 2nd week of January. Me and my girlfriend will be going with a few couples. We plan to do some light skiing and some snow mobiling and all that fun stuff. We also like some type of night life...nothing crazy. But like restaurants and some bars.

Anyone have any recomendations on where to stay? What area?

Should we do cabin or hotels? any ideas would be appreciated.

Killington's a ski resort, Burlington's a town. I really can't answer any of your questions until you tell me a little more of what you're looking for. I've been going to Vermont every winter for the last 30 years. Currently we rent a condo at Bromley, but there's absolutely no night life there. I've stayed at Magic, Okemo, Bromley, Stratton, and Killington. I wouldn't stay in Burlington, because then we'd have to drive to get to the mountains. If I was looking for good skiing, plenty of dining options, nice lodging, and a decent night scene, I'd do Killington. But Killington has crowds, which you really won't find at Magic or Bromley, but both of those places have ZERO night life, and very few dining options, all of which are a decent car ride away. Killington Village has restaurants and bars, and buses that take you to and from those places to your condo.

Hugh has some good advice. Kilington has a little bit of everything if you are into skiing, only issue is dealing with the New Yorkers...... :D

Love Burlington, plenty of options for dinning and I'm sure you can find some snow mobiling in the area. I'm sure the city's website has some links for vacationers

New Courtyard downtown is really nice, and it's down the street from my favorite breakfast place....The Penny Cluse.....get the potatoes, trust me.

Not to familiar with the Stowe area but that might work as well. We mostly go to Sunday River in ME

If you're going for long enough it might be cool to spend a couple of nights in Killington and take care of the mountain type stuff like skiing and snowboarding and then spend a few days in Burlington where you'd drive to go Snowmobileing and hang in the town at nights. I've never been to Burlington but Killington is pretty much about the skiing, dining, nightlife. Not a whole lot to do there during the day if you aren't on the hill, as is the case with most ski resorts I'd imagine.

:D figured that.

Just found out that I'll be heading there the end last weekend in Feb / begining of March with a group. We are renting a house about 3 miles from the access road, can't wait.
